This webinar will review a selection of apps which can complement instruction in phonological awareness, vocabulary development, and comprehension strategies including questioning, making connections, visualizing, and text structure analysis for skills such as summarizing. Apps for engaging students in accessing and creating texts in various formats will also be demonstrated. Learner Outcomes: -identify three sources of electronic text which may be used in literacy instruction. -describe one resource for each of three critical aspects of literacy: decoding, vocabulary, and comprehension -utilize apps for text creation in several formats (e.g. book, picture collage, animation) After watching the recording, and completing the brief assessment by the assigned due date, all attendees will receive a certificate of attendance for 1.5 continuing education hour. (For speech pathologists: The certificates of attendance that are supplied can definitely be applied toward the 30 Certification Maintenance Hours (CMHs) of professional development that ASHA requires to maintain ASHA Certificates of Clinical Competence (CCC), however this course is not registered as an official ASHA CEU course.
