Lesley Maxwell, MS, CCC-SLP, Associate Professor, is Director of Clinical Education and Director of the Speech, Language and Literacy Center in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, MA.
An animated and engaging national speaker, Lesley is an expert in oral language and literacy instruction in regular education classrooms, early childhood disorders of communication, autism, and school-age language learning and literacy disabilities. Learn fun, practical, research based strategies and resources for developing vocabulary across the grade levels for all types of learners. Participants will walk away with lessons to use immediately and ideas for building vocabulary all day long while meeting Common Core Standards. A great way to begin a year of empowering your students with dynamic vocabulary to build critical thinking and literacy skills.

1. Participants will be able to understand and describe the connection between vocabulary proficiency, academic success, and the Common Core Standards.
2. Participants will be able to identify the most important vocabulary words to teach and to explain why.
3. Participants will be able to implement engaging, fun, research based strategies to develop academic vocabulary in school age children in regular and special education settings.
This recording is available to be watched anytime, at your convenience, until October 31, 2016. - Earn 1.5 continuing education hours (or, for SLPs, 1.5 Certification Maintenance Hours which are accepted by ASHA)
- Within one week of purchasing this webinar, you will receive an email from email@example.com with the recording link, the handout, the evaluation, and instructions for earning your certificate of attendance. To earn certificates of attendance for a group of attendees, please assign one person to be the point of contact for this process. This person will forward the above mentioned recording link email (containing also the handout and evaluation) to the participants who will be participating in this group webinar. Each person will then be responsible for submitting his/her own evaluation via the survey link in the email, by the assigned deadline, in order to receive a certificate of attendance.
After watching the recording completing a brief assessment before the assigned deadline, all attendees will receive a certificate of attendance for 1.5 continuing education hour. Certificates are sent on a monthly basis.(For speech pathologists: The certificates of attendance that are supplied can definitely be applied toward the 30 Certification Maintenance Hours (CMHs) of professional development that ASHA requires to maintain ASHA Certificates of Clinical Competence (CCC), however this course is not registered as an official ASHA CEU course. The earned credits will not get entered into your ASHA CEU registry. Please hold onto the certificate as this can be used if your three-year professional development interval is audited.
