Presented by Penny Castagnozzi and Nancy Telian, MS, CCC-SLP, the founding co-directors and authors of the Reading with TLC programs, Take your students beyond the CVC level of words and into the world or multisyllable words! Through direct instruction, video demonstrations, and hands-on practice, participants will learn engaging strategies to help their students divide multi-syllable words phonetically to improve reading and spelling skills. Sounding out words with "ed" and "es" morphological endings, using the syllable division rules to determine if the vowels are long or short, and morphological awareness will be addressed in this information-packed webinar. Some of the techniques that are touched upon in the Lively Letters program and training will be incorporated in more depth, and new lesson and game ideas will be offered. What is more rewarding than having students who can confidently divide multi-syllable words? Seeing them do this without frustration or anxiety! Background experience / training in the Lively Letters program is not a prerequisite for this webinar, but a few of the Lively Letters characters may be referred to. After completing a brief assessment, all participants who fully attended will receive a certificate of attendance. Certificates are sent on a monthly basis. Speech Language Pathologists will receive 1 CMH (Certification Maintenance Hour), and although this is not an ASHA CEU course, ASHA does accept the CMHs towards the 30 hours needed for recertification. SLPs need simply log the hour and hold on to the certificate, submitting it to ASHA ONLY if audited.
